Find the match activity allows users to identify the matching answer from options available. The user taps or clicks on the right answer, and if answered correctly an option is eliminated from the list.

How the activity is played?
The user chooses the best answer that matches the given keyword or item amongst the options at the bottom of the screen.
The interaction: A target item or keyword appears at the top, and students must click or tap the matching item from the tile grid below.
Elimination mechanic: If answered correctly, that option tile gets eliminated from the choices list, making subsequent questions easier.
The results: On the final screen, users can review their answers, enter their name on the leaderboard, or complete the activity again.
Creating your Find the match activity
Click on Create Activity and select Find the match.
Add a title and optional instructions for your students.
Type your matching content items.
Note: Enter the correct pairs directly across from one another; the system will handle mixing them up during gameplay.Add at least 3 items to make the matching game dynamic.
Click Done to save and compile your activity.

Tailor the difficulty in the Options panel below the activity.

TIMER
None: No time limit is enforced, allowing students to complete the matching game at their own leisure.
Count up: Displays a stopwatch that tracks exactly how long it takes for a student to find and eliminate all the matching pairs.
Count down: Sets a strict time limit (e.g., 5 minutes). The activity ends automatically if the countdown clock reaches zero before the grid is cleared.

LIVES
Use the slider to determine how many incorrect choices a student can make before facing a "Game Over" screen. In the screenshot, this is set to 3 lives.

SPEED
Adjust the slider to set the tempo of the gameplay elements. Dragging the slider all the way to the left sets the game to Wait for answer, which stops any automatic progression or scrolling, ensuring students can process the items without feeling rushed.

RANDOM
Shuffle item order: When enabled, your matching pairs are shuffled into a completely random sequence every time the game is launched, ensuring students cannot simply memorize the positions.

END OF GAME
Show answers: Gives students the opportunity to review the complete list of correct matching combinations at the conclusion of the activity.

ANSWERS
Correct answers are removed: When checked, option tiles that have been correctly paired are instantly hidden and eliminated from the screen, leaving fewer distractors behind for subsequent questions.

SAVING YOUR OPTIONS
Apply to this activity: Saves these choice configurations only for the active game file you are currently editing.

Set as default for template: Remembers these options as your standard configuration for every future game you build using the Find the match template.
Revert to default: Clears custom changes and returns the panel to your previously saved personal defaults.
Revert to author's setting: Restores the activity parameters back to the original layout configured by the initial community creator.

Creating Find the match with AI
You don't need to be a prompt expert to use our AI. It is designed to be intuitive and accessible directly from the activity creator.

Click Create Activity and select Find the match.
Look for the ✨ Generate with AI button (magic wand icon) at the top right of the content editor.

Enter your content:
Topic: Type a subject like "Synonyms for Advanced English" or "Historical Figures and Events."
Text / Notes: Paste a summary paragraph from a lesson. The AI will isolate the core terms and automatically align them into matching pairs.
File: Upload a PDF or Word doc. Wordwall AI reads your material, structures the data, and builds a clean list of definitions and terms instantly.
Click Generate. Review the matched items, make any manual text adjustments if needed, and hit Done.
