Spin the Wheel is one of the most popular "open-ended" templates on Wordwall. It’s perfect for picking students, choosing topics, or gamifying any lesson with a spin of the wheel. Because it is open-ended, it doesn't track scores, making it a stress-free tool for classroom engagement.

How the Activity is Played
The screen displays a colorful, spinning wheel divided into segments.
The Interaction: Spin the wheel by clicking the Spin It button or by "grabbing" the wheel with your mouse/finger and giving it a flick.
The Result: The wheel spins and gradually slows down. The camera zooms in on the winning segment.
-
Post-Spin Actions:
Resume: Zoom out to see the whole wheel again.
Eliminate: Remove the winning segment so the wheel doesn't land on it again (great for calling on students or covering all topics).
Spin Again: Keep the momentum going!
Creating Your Spin the Wheel Activity:
Click Create Activity and choose Spin the Wheel.
You can type an instruction at the top (e.g., "Who will answer next?" or "Describe this word").
-
Enter Your Items:
Type the text for each segment (e.g., student names, vocabulary words, or math problems).
Add Images: Click the image icon to add a picture to a segment instead of, or alongside, text.
Click Add an item or press Enter to add more segments.
-
Click Done to save.
-
Fine-tune the wheel's behavior in the Options panel below the game:
Spin Duration: Choose how long the wheel spins before landing.
Appearance: Change the colors and fonts of the segments.
Sound Effects: Enable or disable the "ticking" sound as the wheel spins to build suspense.
