If you are the administrator of a school account, you might wonder if your role "consumes" one of the paid seats in your subscription. The short answer is: No, not necessarily.
The Admin Role
You are not required to take up a paid slot just to manage the school license. However, to access the management tools, you still need an account:
Create a Basic Account: You must create at least a Basic (free) account to access the My School management page.
No Slot Used: As long as you do not "attach" yourself to the school's premium plan using the invitation link, you will not occupy a paid seat.
Management Only: From your Basic account, you can still invite teachers, remove users, and manage billing.
Who Occupies a "Seat"?
A teacher or staff member only occupies a seat in your license if:
They click the Invitation Link you provide.
They click "Attach My Account" to join the school plan.
By staying on a Basic account as an Admin, you effectively "give up" that premium slot, allowing it to be used by an additional teacher instead.
💡 Pro-Tip: When should an Admin use a seat?
If you are an administrator who also teaches or creates activities for the school, you should use the invitation link to upgrade your account. This will give you access to the unlimited creation and premium templates that the other teachers have.
